To go or not to go.......

We have had a letter asking if we want dd to go to nursey attached to local school In sept. She goes to nursery three days a week when I work and I am unsure what to do? She will only be 3 in the aug and the times are 9-12 five days a week the letter says.
Part of me thinks she will be in school long enough and don't want her away from me even more, feel guilty enough working sometimes.
Or will she be missing out (on what I don't know).
Advice appreciated.

If it's attached to the school she will go to IMO it's a good idea to let her get to know her school friends
but you could wait until the year before she starts school

I'd leave her where it was convenient to you and her. Apart from becoming familiar with the environment and other kids (assuming she then gets a place for the same school next year) there isn't much advantage educationally and it may not even be part of the same building. Some kids will move to other schools at the end of the year and others will join at Reception so she will still have social opportunities later on.

Good points I think 3 is a bit young for this more formal bit when she goes three full days anyway I know is bizarre to think where she goes is not formal but oh .....

Do you have the choice ie will you be able to work 9-12 to fit in with the school nursery and remember it will be 38 weeks only - do you have holiday cover?

School nursery and the private nursery will both follow the same eyfs curriculum.

Hmm, it's all down to personal preference isn't it?

As dixie says, they'll both follow the same curriculum, so I guess it's just down to what suits you and your dd best.

My eldest dd went to school nursery. She hated it. I hated it. She started school with lots of friends but I ended up moving her to a different school at the end of Reception, so she had to make new friends anyway!
My second dd went to a playgroup with wraparound care, and only attended the during the hours that I worked (9.15 - 3.15 3x a week). She loved it. I loved it. She started school knowing no-one but made lots of friends within the first few weeks of starting

I, personally, would stick to what you're doing already if your dd is happy (and you are too!). But as I said, it's all down to personal preference.

Good luck with your decision
