Hi
My daughter's due to start her free hours in April. Our area is entitled to 15 hours. I was wondering if anybody knows if I can just send her for 2 afternoons, not using all the hours or do I have to send her for at least 3 days and use all of the hours?
Thanks

You can choose how many sessions (usually max 5 x 3 hrs funded)unless the preschool insists upon a minimum attendance.

Here in Hampshire the council's policy is that the 15 hours is spread over a minimum of 3 days. If you only want to use them on two days then you lose an hour of funded time.

It will also be dependent on the pre-school. Ours is very parent-friendly and flexible so you can use them for a three hour session, or breakfast club/lunch club and stay for one session a week or every day. Others are not so flexible!

Govt guidlines state that children can access a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 hrs per day.

The settings have their own rules on whether they allow children to access less than the full entitlement as obviously they need to remain a viable business and can run their business as they see fit. There is nothing, however, from the Govt that states that your child must access all the hours. That is up to you as a parent and the provider.
