How many nurseries are you considering?

Olimum · 07/01/2010 20:14

Well, I am also looking at Leapfrog nursery in Thames Ditton for my two daughters.

Hello

I was also wondering about Esher Day Nursery for my 2.5 year old. I was wondering if you did end up putting your children at that Nursery and how it is. Thanks!

Hello

Just saw your message. Are you still thinking about Esher Day...
I am generally pleased but there are a few issues. Happy to go into this further if you are still considering Esher Day !

Hi Olimum, I'm considering Esher Day nursery for 1.5 year old, concerned because I know it used to have quite a dodgy reputation....how are you finding it?

Olimum · 24/03/2010 20:24

My two girls are there part time. One is 4 years and teh other a baby. I would say that it is good for the younger ones as it's small and people know each other. I am not so sure its good for older kids as there is not much in the way of educational stuff. its all basic sticking, gluing etc even in the supposedly pre school rooms upstairs.

I initially felt quite wary too (my 4 year old started 6 months ago now) and we looked at moving her. But over the weeks I have become pretty sure that its a nice place, always seems clean etc. There are very few children there though so its social interaction you are after for your child it may not be the best place.

Let me knwo if I can help with any other thoughts !

Also, I would say that the nursery has quite a casual approach to letting you know how the day went - I really have to ask them ! Our old nursery was far more pro active in keeping parents involved. But overall I am happy enough espc as I think it suits my baby who is only little at the moment.

That's really helpful, thanks. I went to look around yesterday and think it looks fine, a bit sceptical about why it is so quiet, but it has good ofsted and high staff to child ratio. My older (3.5yr old) is at the Montessori on Hampton Court way and younger one can go there in 6 months if necessary.
BTW, saw from another post that you moved from Clapham, we moved from Wandsworth (Clapham Junc) 18 months ago, let me know if you want to meet up for coffee/play any time. I don't start work until beginning of May so around until then.

Hello
Glad that you liked the nursery - it is definately quiet which can be seen as a good or bad thing ! I think its good for my baby but not so good for my 4 year old.
It would be great to meet up - I work Mon and Weds so any other days - pref Thurs or Friday generally good for me. How about Thursday 22 April....
