Moving preschools mis term - funded hours?

We want to move our DS to a nursery full time (he's 3.5) so that he can have all his preschool and childcare in one place.

He is currently with a childminder and goes to preschool too (childminder claims 2 sessions a week, preschool 3) but I don't think this works for him so want to move him in February (after months notice).

Does anyone know what will happen with the funding if we move. Do we have to stay at the school for a whole term to get the funding for the 15 hours a week?

in our county (Northants) if you are there on the head count day (in January) you get the whole term paid. For anyone who starts afterwards we receive nothing from County BUT the pre-school is not allowed to charge the parent for the funded part either. ie the Pre School has to treat as funded even if they are getting no money from County if that makes sense.

The argument from County is that it works both ways so should even out and the admin would be horrendous otherwise.

In practice if we have someone leave after head count day to go somewhere else we come to an agreement and pay the other setting the difference, have to say if it was after half term though we probably wouldn't pay them.

Hope this helps
