Trustees at nursery decided that nursery would close an hour earlier so this meant we have to employ a nanny to care for him the days i work. Now they have decided that the children have to attend for atleast 2 days.
I want to spend some time with my child before he starts school. Sholud i make a complaint to trustees or just move him to another nursery?

depends. What hours are now available? Remember, it is a business and anything they do has to be finanicially viable, or else they can't do it.

They want him to do 2 days. I am just feed up as if they had said at the outset that it closed at 5 and he had to go more than one day he would have not gone there. We have had children at this school for 7 years.

At mine they have to attend for at least 3 days and you can only choose between 3 or 5, not 4. This is a little annoying but then I did choose the nursery and they have the rules so have to put up with them
I think the 2 day rule is fine but the suddenly closing an hour earlier is pretty inconvenient definitely

well our pre school opens 9 til 3 mon-thurs and 9-12 on a friday.

I'm thiking you need day care not pre-school. The point of pre-school isn't to provide childcare. It's for children to interact with kids thier own age, getting ready for school etc.

Is it a nursery or a pre-school?

If he's young and you've got a nanny anyway, why not just put him with nanny the whole time until he gets his vouchers (3 years)?

If it is a nursery, intended for childcare, then it should open 8 til 6 to cover working hours, in which case you aren't being unreasonable to mention it.

Its a nursery. He was 3 in September. The thing is when i employed the nanny i did not know that there was going to be another change and she works in a school the days she is not with us so can not work extra days for us. If i had known when i was looking for a nanny that the nursery was going to change its status on the number of days i would of employed someone else.

Yeah, in that case I don't think you are being unreasonable to be annoyed. I see no reason why a nursery would close at 5. It's a bit odd. You should tell them how changing things regularly creates extra costs for families. They should decide on thier rules then stick to it.

At my school in the Nursery we have introduced flexibility to suit parents-whether they prefer to have 5 x 3 hour sessions a week or 2 full days (we have made arrangements to cover lunchtimes). Parents also have flexibility about when they collect - it doesn't have to be 3 full hours. We're also looking into before and after school care for 3 and 4 year olds to make it easier for working parents.
