why won't people leave me alone. I don't want to send my ds to a school nursery (preschool) everyday. I have opted for a private one so he can go twice a week and build it up gradually. I don't work in the day and I enjoy his company, we do fun stuff together. Is it so wrong. One comment I received was telling me I am being selfish and that it is not about me, that I should put him first and let him mix with children every day and that reception will be a shock. I feel wretched and upset. fwiw he is perfectly happy.

go on the HE threads - you are not alone in enjoying the company of your child! People are so quick to want to institutionalise their children - i dont understand it!

At my nursery, very very few children come 5 sessions a week, majority do 3, some families like you have turned down state school nursery classes because they don't want their child to go 5 sessions a week.

There is too much pressure on parents, you know, all children must go to pre school at 2, do Tumble Tots, Monkey Music, join ballet get your name down for Brownies, do whatever, blah blah blah, and it takes a strong parent to do their own thing. Look at your child and do whatever is the right thing. Stick everyone else.

I promote doing the right thing for the whole family. Where we are, they all start part time on 5 mornings a week, before going full time. There's transition.

FYI - neither of mine went to the school nursery, we turned it down, they both went to school having done 4 sessions a week ( starting on two sessions ) and are happy at school and doing well.

If you and your child are happy, then great! Maybe they are feeling a bit insecure and are having to justify to themselves that they are not doing fun stuff with their children every day.

I didn't send my dc to school at all until reception and they are enjoying school immensely.
I saw that last year as the freedom year where we could still visit museums etc outside the school hoildays.
People have always got something to say, I used to stick to my guns until they backed down.
