Change of keyworker - not been informed

My DS is at a local pre school.I am generally happy with it - it is a happy place and the staff are friendly and seem genuinely caring with the kids.
However I sometimes feel that there is a distinct lack of communication between parents and staff.
DS has been there since April this year and in that time I have had one converstaion with staff about him. This was to raise an issue with his behaviour and to tell me how they were handling it. All fine.
At the end of the summer term I asked if there would be any kind of report or meeting or anything (I had no idea what to expect as have not done this before).I was told no, but if I had any specific issues to raise it with his keyworker or pre school leader.
I then spoke to his keyworker about something and she told me to raise it with his keyworker, before sort of laughing and realising it was her.
I have seen this morning that his keyworker has now changed and noone has mentioned it to me.
Should I expect a bit more communication that this? Or should I just chill out?
Thanks

I'm guessing when you've said "you've seen" that there is a list attached to a wall somewhere? That probably is your communication.

Whether you should be bothered depends I think, on how important you/the nursery judges the keyworker to be. From your post I'm getting the impression that a child is assigned a key worker "because they have to be" and any member of staff working in your child's room should be equally well able to talk to you about them. (which is what happened at DD's old nursery). In DD's current nursery they do a lot of group activities with their key worker so that the key worker knows each child better than other members of staff.

In the first case I'd not be bothered about key worker change, in the second I perhaps would be. But as long as SOMEONE is available to talk to you about your child, tbh I've never really seen the point of keyworkers ...

Thanks for that. I think you are right. They are all in one room and the keyworker is the point of contact should there need to be, but not that important also.
Ok, I shall not worry about it any more!
