Nursery at the local independent school - should i consider it?

Hello,

I'm looking at nursery options for DS nearly 3. We are limited on nurseries locally, quite a rural area. DD went to the state nursery, but they are very full and we would probably not get a place for DS. But we have an independent (private) school nearby that has a nursery.

I just wondered whether anyone has experience of sending their children to a nursery at a private school even if they didn't intend on them staying on once they were 5.

There are other options, but that would mean travelling alot further afield.

I just wondered whether they would laugh at me at the private school if i made an enquiry about the nursery!!

I can't see that they'd laugh at you or be put off by your enquiries. They are like any other preschool - wanting to make sure their places are full.

There is now a preschool at DD's prep school. The school itself is girls only. but the preschool is mixed. That in itself means that a proportion of the children at the preschool cannot stay on after preschool regardless, as they are not girls.

Of the rest there are some which stay on at this prep school, some go onto other prep schools in the areas and pthers go onto state schools.

All are dealt with the same.

There's no reason why you shouldn't send him there. You may have to answer some of their questions carfully when you visit though. They may be over subscribed and prefer to take children who will stay on to the next class.
