mark-making trolley

We want to introduce a mark-making trolley in preschool (on Ofsted's recommendation), but I'm not sure where to buy what I need.

For the uninitiated, there's a picture of one if you scroll to page 22 of this. If you can't be bothered (and who could blame you), it's a trolley with shelves to take a variety of paper and little trays of pencils, crayons, felt pens, chalks etc. The idea of the trolley is that it can be moved around the setting and even outdoors, depending on what you're doing with the children.

Can you buy such a trolley or would we have to make it up ourselves?

And if we have to do it ourselves, does anyone have any bright ideas about how?

We have had a mark making trolley in our pre-school room for a couple of years. It is the most used part of the room.
It is a bog standard vegetable rack on wheels.

We put in loads of resources and the children just help themselves.
This is what we have in it at the moment

pens, pencils, crayons, rulers, scissors, rubbers sharpeners all in a sink tidy abit like this
flowerpots also work well

different sized paper
old birthday cards
old stamps
used envelopes
hole punch
glue sticks
sellotape
old diaries
telephone
keyboard
mouse
calculator
children's name cards which they use to copy their name to label their work

the possibilities are endless!!

We bought ours from Argos. It has a wooden frame with plastic tubs in rows and has proved very useful. We have very simiar contents to purplepurple.

great, thank you all for these ideas, it's exactly what we want. Hadn't thought about using a vegetable trolley which would be loads cheaper and more at child height too.

At home I confess we use old squash bottles (with top half cut off) as felt tip/pencil holders
The tops make marvellous funnels/plant cloches

you could try community playthings. They aren't cheap but their equipment is amazing!!!
