Pre-school complaints procedure

Hi, does anyone know if we have to show a complaints procedure on the noticeboard of a pre-school?
Or is it just kept in the policies/procedures file and just shown if a parent wishes to complain?
It's just as a childminder i'm supposed to have a complaints form showing and a child abuse awareness form as well.
We are just wondering as some pre-schools say that showing the booklet is enough.
What do you do?

All policies and procedures should be kept in a file in the setting for parents, staff and visitors to refer to when needed. The only policy that really needs to be on a parents notice board is your evacuation procedure.
When new parents and staff start at the pre-school they should receive copies of all policies and procedures and sign a form to say they have read the policies and agree to them. Hope that helps!

Our parents are sent an information booklet to keep, the complaints & behaviour management policy are both in there.

I think ofsted say you have to dislay it now.
WE put ours up last week, both the policy and a flow chart to show how it is sorted out.
And Ofsted's address.

there'll be more room taken up with ofsted requirements than there is childdrens' work at this rate!

littlerach · 30/01/2009 20:01

Tell me about it.
Every week there are more things that have to be done.
And none of it makes any difference to the level of care provided

We are running out of wall space! Will they accept it being shown on the ceiling? We'll provide binoculors

The exact wording from page 23 of the EYFS statutory framework is: "you must provide the following information for parents... the complaints procedure (copies to be available on request)". Then further down there's stuff about having the written procedure, dealing with written complaints within 28 days, having Ofsted's contact details available. No mention of displaying anything on a noticeboard. It's up to you how you provide the policy to parents - on the wall, in an info pack, whatever you consider to be reasonable.
