Help: Christmas presents for nursery workers

What do you reckon I should give to the nursery staff at Christmas? There's no one special teacher who spends more time with my daughter, there's about 6. Shall I give a few bottles to the nursery owner and get her to divvy them up? Wine plus chocs? And how much should I spend?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I would say a tin of chocs or something - but then again i am a skinflint! But if i was working there i'd be grafeful for that!

A box of choccies or biscuits to share is plenty - otherwise you can end up spending a ridiculous amount of money.

Last year DD (then 18 months) had three nursery staff who looked after her, and I got them all individual gift cards... this year she's in a much bigger class with several nursery staff plus one key worker. I'll get the key worker something individual (another giftcard probably ) and then a box of shortbread from M&S for the others...

We have a collection and al the parents put in what they are able to then on the last day of term each member of staff is given a voucher that they can spend as they will.
It means they don't get alot of unwanted gifts and means even those less well off are able to contribute.
Takes a little organising but so would buying and wrapping separate gifts

SaucySal · 27/11/2008 14:27

Sorry to push this one, but how much do you cough up for the gift card per person?

A box of chocs and if like mine run as a charity a donation to the nursery if not I put a note in a box saying have donated a toy to the local childrens ward on their behalf (which is what I do for my eldest who is at school.

Posh biscuits, given a good week before they break up so they can have them with their tea.

I spent £10 per gift card for the three members of staff and will probably do the same with her key worker this year.

In our case most Mums put in between £5 and £10 this is between 8 staff but with 30 children it means each staff member gets about £30 gift voucher
