Can anyone recommend a lovely board game for my DD (3.8) who just about knows letters / numbers?

Will be looking at reinforcing what my daughter has learned at pre-school this year. She has been learning her letters in French (bilingual school) and I want to work on English this summer and would love to find a really attractive board game for her.

Any other ideas for lovely materials welcome - we have all the basic stuff, am looking for fun stuff.

scrabble

actually they do have children's scarbble, I've never played it though.

What about a toy clock? My dd1 is fascinated with trying to tell the time.

She has a Swatch pink watch (complete with fake diamonds and flower designs) that has barely left her wrist since her grandfather gave it to her for her third birthday - but you are right, I can work on telling the time with her.

I'd like some kind of letter game with a complete alphabet (like Scrabble) that was a bit more colourful IYSWIM. I'll try looking up children's scrabble.

not exactly 'lovely' board games but my ds of same age loves playing his aphabet bingo game from elc. also alphabet jigsaws provide an excellent opportunity to discuss letters and initial sounds. we play 'eye spy' alot and this has brought his ability to identify initial letters.

That looks lovely, belgo, though a little advanced for right now, perhaps

Orchard do some lovely educational games for 3 to 8 yrs.

Link here

They do have their own website but you can get them on Amazon I think. I notice they even have one in French.

How about traditional games like Snakes and Ladders - great for counting since you mentioned numbers in your title.

I second the orchard games, we have lots of them and DS loves them.. Nice and colourful and the site tells you the age group and the learning side etc.
