our preschool has integrated into reception. the reception children go at 8.45 and we are 9. they now want to change this so it helps the other parents out with 2 kids going to the same school. however they said they would charge us the extra time to change pre school children to come in line and drop of at 8.45. there is no charge atm but is in review at xmas. it’s £20 a month for 5days a week children from jan to july this will be £140 for something they want to change?? surely they cannot do this? can we report to ofsted?

It's 15 minutes of extra time in the setting and if it's starting in January you've been given a term's notice. Yes, they can do this and no, ofsted will not be interested in pricing disputes. You're free to move your child.

They've not been given a term's notice (unless the notification was made before the start of this term). That has specific meaning of a whole term - so if the contractual period for changes requires a full term, the change should not come in until the start of the summer term.

Charges should not be altered/raised unless the notice period for the change is greater than the notice period to leave the setting without having to pay fees in lieu. So those who do not want the new T&Cs can quit without penalty.
