pre-school funding - can you split between child-care providers?

I'll be going back to work part time when DD is about 3 years. I'm keen or her to go to the local pre-school as it feeds into our local primary, but realistically will also have to use a nursery for at least a day as hours are so short. It's probably she won't be going for a full 12 hours in either - does anyone know if I can split the government funding between two providers?
TIA

I recollect that you can but could be wrong. I don't think they like it though...

yes you can - well I did a couple of years ago

MummyDoIt · 15/04/2008 22:09

I think you can as the form I filled in at my DSs preschool had a section for you to fill in if you were using any other childcare provider.

Yes. For sure.

Yes. I do. There is no problem at all. I make sure I double check that the nursery doesn't make a mistake.

You now have to provide birth certificate to both places so they can check fraud.

You just have to make sure the number of sessions claimed for in total is only five. If one of your providers is difficult about it reassure them that it is perfectly legal and you will make sure totals add up.

You can as long as they're both non-maintained providers ie not a state nursery

Bramshott · 15/04/2008 22:17

Yes - I did this when DD1 was a pre-school and nursery. You just have to make sure the total sessions per week adds up to 5, AND that the total sessions per term adds up correctly - there's a limit on sessions but your pre-school may not run for the max number of weeks so make sure you know exactly how many sessions they will claim, and then that the nursery (assuming that goes on through the hols) claims all the rest.
