The Importance of Teaching Emotions to Preschoolers

Hello everyone,
I've been pondering the significance of teaching emotions to young children, especially between the ages of 0-4. As parents, we often face the challenge of explaining complex feelings like frustration or anger to our little ones. I've noticed that even a slight display of impatience on our part can undermine the lessons we try to instill.
How do you approach this topic with your children? Do you think there are effective ways to teach emotional regulation and recognition at such an early age? Have you noticed any particular methods or activities that help your child understand and express their emotions better?
Looking forward to reading your experiences and thoughts on this!

It’s an open discussion! I’m eager to hear personal insights and experiences from fellow parents and educators. All thoughts are welcome!

Naming emotions as they have them from a young age helps. Things like "I know that makes you sad" or "it looks like you feel frustrated. That would make me frustrated too".

My dd is very expressive. But she is also very resilient and moves on quite quickly after she's upset. Who knows if talking about emotions has helped? But I am glad that I always know how she is feeling.
