Best schools in Middlesbrough

Hi, my husband has just secured a new job within network rail but located in Middlesbrough. We have a 3 year old and one on the way. I work from home but this could change after baby is born so need to be near job opportunities. I'm looking forward to the move but it's so important to us that we find the right school for our children so looking for the right catchment areas. Would like to live somewhere quiet with a family feel and lots of green or a short walk to a good park as we love being outdoors. Looking to buy as rent is high and areas I have seen are Nunthorpe,Eagglescliffe, Yarm and stokesly but little out of our budget. We would prefer a 3 bed and have £160,000 wondering if anyone who lives or lived in the area would be able to share experience of schools and areas. Many thanks

For your budget I’d look at Eston and Normanby. Lots of streets with properties on for around that, where I’d be happy to live. Good choice of schools too.

Is Nunthorpe a nice area to live?

Is Nunthorpe a nice area to live?

Yes. It’s also probably the most expensive area of Middlesbrough to live, for exactly that reason. There are cheaper parts of it though.

All the listed areas are wonderful, but pricey for what you are looking for.
We are Ingleby Barwick where you could definitely get a 3 bed for your £160k, we were priced out of Stokesley and Great Broughton (where we'd rather be) but have absolutely loved being where we are now. We have a 6 and 2 year old and schools are great. Eaglescliffe is lovely, senior school and primaries fab (The Links and Yarm primary there) You may also get the other end of Yarm, so Layfield and Conyers for what you're wanting to pay.

If you are looking out towards Stockton too, you sometimes get 3 beds in Ingleby priced at £160k with access to a bunch of good primary and secondary schools.

Xpost 😁

Hah @FourTeaFallOut it is the first thought for those kind of prices, outstanding rates schools and plenty of house/garden for the money compared to other places. We weren’t keen on the idea but now we are here I can’t imagine we will leave at all, maybe retire back towards yarm/stokesley but otherwise no need to change

Thank you all for your advice. We are still on the search and have had an increase in our deposit. My husband is keen for a new build so I said I would explore it. Seems to be a few new build sites around Middlesbrough. Any ideas on the best ones and best areas. We are looking at a 15 mile radius

Backside manor miller homes. Orchid or saffron gardens by persimmon. Harebell meadows is going to be a fab site , only just getting started though. We’re in a new build (been here 2.5 years now) and though it had its teething problems we’re now settled and it’s great!

Those look like good suggestions by Q.
Just be careful with some of the middlesbrough ones - some of the descriptions of location are a bit generous, and push you from nice to dubious.
