Do you have arnica tablets? They would help get the swelling down

They have a little courtyard in the middle of the classroom that they can come in and out of. Either they weren't being watched, or they are protecting the other child after bringing him in in front of me.

Will defo be going in in morning as I am not working.

Teacher said to little boy 'you have made Kay'sDS very sad look and you should say sorry'.

I am appaled by lack of paperwork yes. At minor injuries clinic the nurse said they go on a lot of factors at this age such as did he get straight up, did he pass out, was he sick etc. All I could tell her was he fell and was sick. Went back to foyer at 3pm for other mindee so if paperwork had been forgotten in rush they could have done it then.

oh poor thing, it looks v sore. (and gorgeous too, not that thats relevent )

i dont really see what diff it makes exactly how it happened tbh, (unless an adult did it!) if it was just 3yos being 3yos, it sounds like one of those unfortunate things. no? am i too laid back do you think?

HappiesGlamore · 23/01/2008 21:25

he looks gorgeous, not it looks gorgeous [doh]

EffiePerine · 23/01/2008 21:25

There should def be an accident book, he should have been treated by a first aider and (if it had happened at my workplacce) the first aider would have accompanied you to A&E. I'd go in and ask about their policy on accidents on site. All sounds a bit dodgy to me

(you'll know all this H&S stuff anyway being a CM)

KaySamuels · 23/01/2008 21:26

2st sounds about right to me - just as correct as appaled right pedants?

cazzybabs · 23/01/2008 21:28

Agress it should have been in an acident book. but can see how they may have missed it happeneidng and therefore be unsure how it happened. But the other child involved is puzzling - i think you should go back and ask for further info (to prevent it happeneing to another child).

ScoobyDoo · 23/01/2008 21:29

Aw bless his little heart he looks so sad

You should have signed a accident form straight away, i used to have to sign accident forms at ds's nursery for the slightest thing let alone what has happened to your ds.

I would also want to know the whole "true" story as what has happened is awful, thats a bad cut/bruise!

I hope his eye gets better soon bless him

EffiePerine · 23/01/2008 21:29

am flabbergasted that he feel and hurt his head, was sick and they waited for you to take him to A&E?

EffiePerine · 23/01/2008 21:30

fell

KaySamuels · 23/01/2008 21:30

No not too fussed with the hows, more with the organisation. They kno I walked there, and told me to ge him checked out. I then had to walk him to bustop bleeding and short change the bus driver to get to the clinic!

I know he will get hurt, I am far from precious with him!

First aider was nice, had a cold compress on it when I went in and was very good with him. Just shocked at no paperwork - as a childminder I am wading through the stuff!

Oh also though firstaider said 'oh I think he has had an accident he's a bit smelly'. He had.

we had 2 accident forms when DS fell off his chair at playgroup (one from our CM, one from the playgroup and she rang the next day to check he was OK)

KaySamuels · 23/01/2008 21:33

Thanks for all the gorgeous comments BTW!

So what do you think of his hair should I get it cut?

OP posts:
clayre · 23/01/2008 21:34

dd had an accident at nursery and i think they play them down to try and keep you calm (doesnt work) , she tripped over a toy hoover another wee girl was playing with and bumped her teeth on a table and her tooth got pushed into her gum, i had to rush her to dentist and she is stuck with a horrible tooth and possibly a horrible adult tooth, they are kids and these things happen, regarding the paperwork it was all there ready for me to sign the next day.

onebatmother · 23/01/2008 21:36

for god's sake kay it would be a crime to get it cut. please check out my own darling hippie.

fishie · 23/01/2008 21:37

oh dear poor boy and utter shit from preschool staff.

re hair, ds has similar and i cut it a sort of bob because it was getting tangled. still longish and not too much hassle with cutting but much easier to deal with.

TellusMater · 23/01/2008 21:38

Nooo! Ds has short hair, but only because it grows up and out and not down .

It's lovely.

KaySamuels · 23/01/2008 21:41

Gorgeous onebat - ds has a strikingly similar jammies collection too!

Like it long but it's getting irksome, may just give it a tiny trim then - thanks ladies!

Ah what would I do without mumsnet!

HappiesGlamore · 23/01/2008 21:47

actually, you lot are right, the, um, proceedures in that place sound worryingly haywire. i am too laid back.

and no, dont cut the hair.

looneytune · 23/01/2008 21:56

Hiya mate, haven't read whole thread but poor ds I know how you feel about the accident book and you should go back and ask them about it when you go back. Last year ds was at nursery and I got a call to say he'd had a fall and was floppy and pupils fully dilated etc. I said shouldn't you call an ambulance if hit his head that bad and they said oh, no need for that and I asked about first aider on site and they said they weren't in. Anyway, got mindee in the car and was crying my eyes out with worry, got there and he was really not with it, very pale and sweaty but pupils normal by then. Rushed him up to A&E due to his behaviour etc. and it took about an hour and a pesary up his backside to make him seem more normal. Next day I explained to nursery (on the phone) that as a childminder, I have to do the accident form and get signed etc. and they said they just write a note in the book. I asked to see the note when I went back to nursery and tbh, I reckon they'd written it in after I'd made the fuss. I was sooo and I'm not surprised you are. Hope ds feels better soon xxx

MaureenMLove · 23/01/2008 21:59

Oh dear god, KAY! That's dreadful! Poor little thing! Is he ok? I hope he's gone off to sleep OK. You must feel horrid. I hate it when dd hurts herself, it's just horrid!

So, moving on from the compassion of being a parent, what are you going to do about the playgroup? You know, only too well, that they should have filled something in. You know, you should have been asked to sign something when you collected him. Do you think that maybe, in the frenzy of you whipping ds to the hospital, they felt it could wait 'til tomorrow? It shouldn't have waited tbh, but you can kinda understand if they felt it could.

Anyway, if you take ds in the morning and they don't ask you to sign something, what are you going to say?
