Day care vs Private school

Hello wise mums… the little fellow is born in Nov and will turn 4 this year. This means he can start state school reception in Sep 2023 … the only problem is he is already bored out of his mind at day care. He knows all the EYFS markers and is getting better at playing with kids. so wondering if I can maybe get a private school to assess him for reception this year. Is this even possible? Maybe an IB school?

I don’t think so. If you want academic stretch in preschool you might be better off looking for a preschool attached to a private school that has a good reputation for differentiation. I know someone whose son attended a private Montessori that went to year 2 who was able to do some advanced work in preschool.

However, it’s unusual for a child to be bored at 3 by a lack of academics. Most of the day is just playing and developing motor skills, self-care independence etc.

You can very easily if you have time at home stretch his understanding of numbers, phonics etc in a fun and gentle way
