I am newly appointed to the very prestigious role of Chair of our village toddler group. I am trying to come up with a plan for a craft activity for each week leading up to Christmas.

What I have come up with so far is:

Halloween activity (nothing decided on yet)

Bonfire Night activity (ditto)

Biscuit decorating

Something with leaves ..maybe...

Christmas Cards

ha ha....not very inventive is it yet .

So I am looking for suggestions for things you have done or organised at your Toddler group (or things that your DC have brought back from nursery).

The children that come are 3 and under, so things need to be fairly simple!

TIA

christmas tree didn't work out.... that is half the christmas tree

tasja, I think I know what you mean.

Can see loo roll and yogurt pot collecting is going to be in vogue for a few months here!

funnyp - glad you like the idea - the recipients of the cards usually really like them too! I do a bit of CMing and they usually go down well with parents

Califrau...that was the old style of doing it, which ended up with endless weeks of play dough or mega blocks. I am taking a more authoritarian/dynamic approach. I am going to decide on the activities, sort out instructions of how they are to be done and then delegate the activity to a mummy on the commitee. Cannot be doing with fannying about with free choice and all that

lol lol @ Tampon Angel. That was some bored woman who thought that one up.

LOVE the Gruffalo site and mask. Will have to do that (is one of dd2's fav books). Think a friend has the cd with music so might play that for a Gruffalo themed morning.

Great Stuff.

The elaves one always work- we used to put a message tree with things like 'I love my Mummy because....' in the entrance area to popu;ar effect (just messages on leaves glued to s branch in a pot)

September / pctober are magical weeks imo as the weather changes, so anything based on autumn colours and animals- using sticks / dried leaves etc to amke pictures of hibernating hodgepigs,

autmn picnic? with apples / pears, maybe slices of cold pie, bread, etc- all eaten dressed upin ahts and scarves. if you ahve access to an oven (we did) you can make dough in advance and then get the kids to plait their own rolls- they love doing that

JackieNo · 20/08/2007 19:42

I think I recommended Kids Craft Weekly to you for something pirate related, didn't I? They have loads of back issues on there, and obviously more to come, every couple of weeks or so (despite the name).

Peachy · 20/08/2007 19:43

Slubber EVERYONE starts doing Christmas in September LOL! 'Tis the rule

doi;y angels on toilet rolls with christmas sweets inside for parents (you put a circle of card over one end of the tube, that makes the 'foot', add 2 or three sweets, then cover with doilies, face and a pipecleaner halo

candy cane decorations from bakeable dough

Slubberdegullion · 20/08/2007 19:56

Well if I get any complaints that "the children aren't making nice things" from any of the Mummy's......well lets just say they will be recieving one of my 'special' hard stares.

Jackie, I did the pirate hat thing (I think you suggested), if the weather hadn't been so piss poor we would have made a fortune on our stand
