Giving a term’s notice - changing school

We have decided to change school and will be giving a term’s notice in a couple of weeks, DD5 to leave at the end of the summer term.

Is there anything I should know? Will the school act differently toward my daughter as they know she is not staying on? We are moving because the school is not the right fit, we have discussed this with the school before but our moving will come out of the blue because they had made an attempt to help with the concerns we had, it’s just not working out.

TIA

I did exactly this and it was fine, no difference in treatment

It happens all the time and is fine.

Just don't stand in the playground saying how crap current school is and how much better new one is Wink

And sometimes schools are quite happy to see some families leave if the 'fit' isn't right.

Thank you all. No back story, just worried because we have never done it before and don’t want to do anything wrong. We certainly will not be saying how crap the school is! There are many reasons for our move, more our side than school’s side. Thank you all again.

Depends on each school's terms and conditions. Some require notice at end of previous term, others before first day of final term.

We are in the same boat. For DS it's a normal transition point although he could stay another 2 years.
Dd is trickier we are leaving because her class teacher's husband is not great at his job. To be fair a few families are clearing off for the same reason we are the only one with a child in her class though.
I totally trust the TA to make sure things run smoothly for the final term.

Is your daughter not going to do taster/assessment days this term?
It is a short term the week after they go back it's May. Then there is May half term. Just slog through June and they break up early July.
