My son (he is my 1st child) is 3 years and 4 months and he is currently at a Montessori. He can count up to 20 and he is pretty good with puzzles and stuff which a 3 year olds are expected to do..

I was trying to get him into an independent pre-school as I have plans to send him there for primary education (it's close to my work so works well with drop offs and pick ups). He was assessed twice. Once when he was around 2 1/2 years and another assessment was done yesterday and on both occasions he's been turned down saying "he is a delightful boy but we think he will really struggle here." I am interested to find out whether any parents have gone through such situations and how these institutions come to a conclusion within 15mins of assessing a child. Do they expect a 3 year old to be at PhD level??!!

You might be better asking this in 'Education'. That's where you tend to get a lot of posters who know anything about Private schools.
The idea of assessing if a child is 'good enough' at 2 is completely alie to me, so I can't help.

This board tends to offer information and support about children in, or starting pre-school Smile

Don’t send him anywhere that feels the need to “assess” him at such a young age.

Let him be a child. Find somewhere that doesn’t have this ridiculous pressure to jump through pointless hoops.
