So what do I do about this bit of information then?

DS#2 will be 4 in Feb. He started at a local nursery in September - 2 full days a week. He loved it to start with but recently he's been tearful in the morning and didn't want to go. He's been ill and I put it down to being still a bit rundown maybe. But this afternoon one of the care workers approached me as I was leaving with DS and told me that he has been crying for Cory (who doesn't go today) - his best mate at the nursery - and had been a bit left out of the main group of his age children. The nursery staff cuddled him and made him feel happier and he was fine when I picked him up.

Is this the reason he's been reluctant? If the key worker told me this, does it mean that she is seriously worried - surely it's something that you'd leave the children to sort out for themselves normally. And is there anything I can do about it or am I just supposed to fret pointlessly?

maybe he is still a bit under the weather? did he say anything to you about Cory, or about the others not playing with him? I wouldn't have thought they were seriously worried at the nursery , just keeping you in the picture. if it continues, can he change his days so he sees Cory more or go every day but just mornings or something? ds1 was miserable last year at nursery but is much better this year now he goes every morning instead of just 2 mornings. he didn't get to be in with the 'in crowd' cos he wasn't there as much. this year it's much better. I didn't really realise at the time, it's only this year that he's started talking about last year iyswim.
