Child coming home and saying swear words

My dc (3years old) has been coming home the past few weeks and saying new words he's obviously learnt at nursery.

They may not sound like a big deal but they are to me. We don't swear at home and it sounds very rough.

He's been saying "flipping heck" and after yesterday's session he came home and said "my arse".

I don't know how to broach the subject with the nursery. He's told me the name of the child who uses these words at nursery; shouldn't the nursery workers be stopping them from using bad words?

Any advice will be good thanks.

After reading your title I was expecting to read proper swear words. Arse and flipping heck is rough language rather then swearing.

I would probably mention it to the nursery.

Essentially though throughout his life, your son is going to meet children (then later adults) who use all sorts of language and it is yours/your sons responsibility to learn what language is/isn't appropriate to use. So next time your son says a rough word you can explain that it's not a word you use in your family and then let him find a word he can use instead. Or find out what he really meant to say.

My children hear all sorts of stuff in the playground but they know it's not appropriate language to use, so choose not to copy it

As the others have said - it gets much worse when they are at school!
