Emergency contacts. We don't have any!

Filling in enrollment forms for DS's new preschool, I got to the section for emergency contacts if DH and I are unavailable and realised there is no one at all that I can list! Sad

Our families are all back in the UK. We moved here last year and I can't think of a single person who would be suitable. They either work full time or I just don't know them well enough to ask.

What shall I do? Does it matter too much if I leave that part blank, even if it makes me feel a bit sad and lonely? I'm a SAHM with a younger child and we live a 5 minute walk away from the preschool, so it's extremely unlikely that they wouldn't be able to get hold of me if they needed to.

In our nursery we ask for at least 2 contacts. So that would be you and dh. We ask for home, work and mobile numbers
As long as they have more than 1 number then I'm sure it will be OK

Could you and another parent be each other's emergency contact?

We don't have any either. They have the home phone no., dh's and my mobile and my work no. It's never been a problem.

We don't have any either.
I'd not worry about it, they can't refuse to take your DS because you have no other person's contact details to give them!

Most people would just put the child's mother and father, but I do think , in your situation, you need to cultivate a few adults you could call on in a crisis. A retired neighbour or a school friend's parent. Not saying you'd leave DC there overnight now, but try to start building one or two relationships where you could if you needed to in the future.

Apart from that, it takes a village to raise a child and it just makes life a bit more pleasant to have a few more people around.
