Hiya.
My ds (2.3years old), has been going to playgroup three afternoons a week.
In September, he will go to pre-school in the mornings instead, but it is in the same building and with the same children and adults etc.
However, they are asking if he will be going there 5mornings. I know when he turns 3, he will have a free place, but I dont know wheather he will be able to handle it (iyswim).
What did all yours do?
Also put it in the education part!!
Thanks in advance.

Feel like I need to decide which school to send him to and let the other school know what is going on (ie. that he isn't coming so they can offer the place to another child if necessary). When I spoke to the school secretary she said that they are doing the paperwork soon for September - image that is to get the government money.

That would be great if I could - but when I have talked to the teachers about this they just keep telling me that he'll be fine he'll settle into a 5 day a week schedule. Should I just go along with this? Obviously if DS isn't handling it well I'll take him out for a day. Just feel like it's out of my hands and that I should just go with what they say.

I had a similar situation with my DS when he started at nusery.
From 9 months until 3.5 he was at a day nursery for 2 days a week, 7.30am until 5.30pm. I was working in London on those days and so this fitted in well.
By the time he was 3.5 I was pregnant and had given up work so he started at the school nursery class. I thought he would find it easy cos it was only 2.5 hours a day compared to about 10 hours at the day nursery, but he actually found it really hard. He didn't want to be there every day of the week and only be home at weekends. He took about half a term to get used to the idea, he then loved it and he also found the transition to school really easy.

Hope you find a solution soon.

The 5 day a week school called me this afternoon and they have invited us to come and experience a day at the school so we can actually see what their structure is like (and then we can at least compare it to the playgroup). I think if DS had been in nursery before this I wouldn't be having issues with it. And I wasn't completely happy with the 3 day a week school. I'm sure that it would be fine if he did go there, but just didn't really get a good vibe when we visited.
