Does your nursery charge during school holidays for 3 year old attending term-time only?

My 3 year old now qualifies for the 15 hour Government funding which is great but my nursery want to charge me for one day per week for every holiday week (except for the summer holidays) whether he attends or not. I work 4 days a week and this is when he attends nursery. As I work termtime only he doesn't need to attend during the holidays, besides which, I don't get paid during school holidays so I'm paying for something I don't need. They say they're doing this as they're a business. Has anyone else come across this? Is the nursery correct in charging me this way?

Yes, I pay the same monthly fee regardless of whether there is a holiday in that month, so for example, I pay for a full month in August although the nursery is closed for 10 days. Same for Christmas holidays etc

Yes, very unusual to find a nursery that will offer term time only contracts IMO. They still have overheads and staff to pay even if your dc isn't there.

It's normal. Many nurseries will offer a preschool option though, ours did.
