Hi. Well my partner left on Sunday and I now have the dilemma of him not been able to drive my son to school. My children are 5 3 and 1. The school is over a mile away and have to go down lanes and industrial estates and a housing estate to get there. I am absolutely dreading it in the bad weather! It will be ok when it's not raining. I have got the children rain macs and Wellies and have buggy board but I am also pregnant. If anyone has ANY ideas on how I can do this easily please comment. Much appreciated. Thank you xx

:(
I used to only have to walk 1/2 a mile, with an (autistic) 6yr old,2 yr old and newborn. (They are now 10, 5 and 3 so we survived).
I used to carry the newborn in a sling as much as possible, then a back pack as he got older. This gave me free hands to help the older 2 over roads etc. I had lots of games up my sleeve for days when they needed an extra helping hand to keep walking. e.g. the little drain covers were 'power ups' and gave them extra energy to run to the next one, or could they find the number on the next lamp post/gate/wheelie bin etc.
The worst days were when it snowed (we live on the side of a mountain and can have up to a foot or so of snow on the ground in the winter) I ended up carrying the 2 yr old and the baby then for a couple of years. Sometimes other people helped carry them for me too :)

Is DP your 5yo's dad? Can he not come and take him to school anyway if he been doing it already?

Is there anyone who lives near you that you could walk with? A bit of peer pressure might help them on their way. DDs are 3 and 5 and they usually scoot to school, it's way quicker than them walking (DD2 probably wouldn't walk, or would go so slowly I'd have lost all patience). Also I can pull them on their scooters, although not sure you could do that with a pram too. Power ups on drain covers is a brilliant idea though, I might steal that one...

Really good luck with it all :)
