Do working parents use a school nursery place for their 3 year olds?

Just a little pondering that me and DP were doing tonight. We realised that we are unlikely to use a school nursery funded place for our children due to us both working shifts. We would be much more likely to use a CM as we need the greater flexibility that this allows. However not all CM's can do pick ups/drop offs at the preschool you are allocated to.

I didn't use one for my DS because we couldn't find a CM with a place that could do the wrap around care, plus due to working shifts we wanted flexibility in days/hours, so it didn't work out well for us at all. In the end he used his place in a private nursery, and a CM did the wrap around care.

I noticed that quite a few working parents have kept their children in their existing childcare arrangements.

Does anyone have any views or opinions on this?

we used private nursery near my workplace, they worked out the percentages of the funded part when they got to the term after they were 3, and we just paid the remainder. With dd we tried the school nursery with cm wraparound but it came up more expensive than private ft nursery and less hours. CMs tend to charge full daily rate even though they don't have the child for the three hour session so imo not worth persuing CM.
