Nursery/Pre-School Setting Managers/Owners - may I pick your brains a while...

I have been running an under 5s music group for a few years now and am thinking about approaching local nurseries and pre-schools to see about taking my music into them for weekly sessions. The two I have 'casually' approached have been very positive but I really have no idea of pricing and frequency etc. I would massively appreciate any comments from those of you who currently employ someone to come in and do music for your setting before I commit myself (or say something silly!!).
Thanks for you time,
BB.

£20 - £25 for 30 minute session?
Would depend on number of children and helpers though I guess??

I think there would be many places interested in this however I think if you were charging £20-25 per 30 minutes there wouldn't be much interest. I guess it would depend on the area and cost of living etc.

I used to do a similar thing in a nursery and charged approx £15 per hour, that was as a pianist so they wouldn't have been able to do it themselves. I also had a Yoga session in my pre-school which was £15 per half hour.

The issue I would have with a music session is - is it any different to what the staff can do within the session time, also you should consider linking in with their planning. If you came to me suggesting this and could show me you could offer something completely outside the skills of the staff then I would consider paying £15 per half hour each week.

Another thing to consider is that pre-schools and nurseries are supposed to offer the same thing to all children regardless of the sessions they attend so changing your days each half term or something would be something that I would be impressed with if someone suggested it when coming to my pre-school.

I hope this helps a bit.

Have you got any local children's centres? The one where I work hires outside providers to run activities.
