Education for a 4 year old

I just moved to a new area,
I got my son in year 1 fine and he's thriving
However my daughter who's 4 is only on waiting list for the school has no places, i also been told she may not get a place until year 1 next september,

I'm trying my best but only so much i can do with her, and she's missing children interaction and education.

Even if it's few hours a week is there anything i can do get her into a private run nursery or something?

She will qualify for 15 hours funding, which she can take anywhere as long as it has an ofsted (basically) However, if you put her in a private day nursery they may well charge you the full rate for the school holidays, so you would want to check the terms and conditions before you signed up.

I'm sure if you make a few calls someone will have a place.

Definitely look around at preschools. They may not extend your dd as much as school will but they still have to follow the same curriculum & allow her to be social etc. I'd do half days 5 days a week if you can & then try & do an hour of other stuff with her myself in the afternoon, like board games, reading together, drawing etc. It's probably a good idea to start a little bit of phonics & I'd also ask the school (she'll be going to later,) what reading scheme they use & for the resources/advice they give to parents when their dcs start school.
