I've got about 7 years experience in early years with really sound knowledge of child development and the EYFS. I really want to get into teaching in a private school and wondered if anyone can advise me.

At the moment I have a CACHE level 3 diploma. I'm prepared to start as a voluntary TA but obviously I want to do a suitable degree and get into teaching. What's the best course for me and which path is the best to follow in terms of gaining experience and strengthening my CV for job opportunities?

All advice most welcome xxx

I would echo Mutt's question. Is there any particular reason why you want to work in a private school?

Wherever you end up teaching, then cat64 is correct, that you must gain QTS (qualified teacher status) through B-Ed, PGCE or in-school/college training (I can't remember the name of this particular training!)

With any of those routes, the shortest course is 3 years as far as I know.

I am assuming that want private is that you don't 'need' a teaching qualification - as they are private it is up to the school if their teachers are qualified or not - pay is less as an unqualified teacher also - to be honest i don't think you would be likely to get a position in a school if they do not already know you - GTP is another option, graduate teacher program which is on the job training? only other option could be to try and get a higher level teaching assistant (again another qualification needed - without something like this you cannot be in charge of a class, it affects ratios) job in a private school and attempt to show them that you are experienced enough for them to offer you a teaching role? I would look at doing a teaching degree though to be honest
