Schools in Newbury, Berkshire

We are relocating to Newbury and have no idea what the Nurseries and primary schools are like. We have heard that the St Barts area is a nice place to live so are there any nice schools around there? Does anyone know what reputation John Rankin has or any advice whatsoever ??

Thanks;-)

I'm looking for the same information - we are
moving to Newbury with our two year old boy. Can anyone tell
us where or where not to live in the area?
Or recommend excellent pre-schools and primary's?
Thank you

I went to Newbury at the weekend - the town centre
seemed nice. Apparently St Barts is a good school?

Guys, go onto Netmums - they answer
your questions on there!

Have you tried posting on the Mumsnet local site for Newbury? You'll probably get more of a response there. If you click on 'local' in the blue bar at the top of this page and then find the local site for Newbury in 'add a site to my local (or something similar).

I used to live in Newbury. I seem to remember that most people wanted to live in the south part of the town to get their children into either St Barts or park House. John Rankin did have a good rep (as did Falkland) .
Avoid Greenham area though.

i live in Newbury, Falkland has a very good reputation as does St johns and st nicolas (st johns is reception until year 2 and st nics is year 3-6) as for secondry kennet is very good as well as Park House. St Barts is good but caters mostly for the brighter children. stay away from trinity even though it is getting better and for primary schools John rankins has had some problems but is getting better along with the willows and fir tree. anywhere the on the south side of newbury is usually good but make sure you check past ofstead reports. hope this helps
