Just a quick question to parents of 2 year olds!

I have a daughter who will be 3 in March 2012. When is she likely to start mainstream nursery? Will it be April straight after her 3rd birthday, September when she's 3 and a half or the following January 2013 when she is nearly 4?

I ask this because I ave to start thinking of finding a job and arranging suitable childcare for my junior son. His school is in the opposite direction to any potential nursery so Im gonna be stuck with problems as to how to take them both without one being late for school/nursery.

Also, since my son's school does not have an adjoining nursery at his school, can anyone recommend a good government mainstream nursery? I am in the Carshalton area.

Thank you very much peeps!

children can start nursery at any age lots from 6 weeks onwards but to be qualify for the funding (the free 15 hours) its the term after the child is 3 so it will be april 2012 when she qualifies for her funding

Think you're talking about pre-school rather than nursery.

From what I recall the government grant is for the term following your child's 3rd birthday, so if birthday in April (like my dd has) then grant doesn't start till September term. If birthday in March then I think you will get it for the summer term (so post-Easter term).

Most pre-schools are signed up to the grant scheme so if you find one in your school's area then you can ask them about how they work the scheme. If you can find your local Family/Children's Information Service then they should be able to give you a list of pre-schools in the area you want.
