Behaviour at Pre school

My DS (4.5) is fairly well behaved at home most of the time. I have recently been told by his key worker, that he is quite naughty while he is with them, and they are 'monitoring' his behaviour.
He keeps telling me that his friend 'E' is naughty and tells him to do naughty things as well, for example they both pulled part of the play house roof off last week and this week were running people over with their bikes on purpose. He also tells me that 'E' doesn't let him do painting or art activities as he 'doesn't like' them. When he was off sick DS bought home alot of art things I have recently been told 'Mummy E said f**ker today'. Shock
Am going to suggest that DS is 'focused' more and kept away from 'E', when we go in tomorrow to discuss this behaviour. Do you think this is resonable or am I being overprotective? I understand I can't keep him wrapped in cotton wool for ever!
Advice please.
Sorry for essay!

I would let his key worker handle it if you trust her judgement. They will be able to judge the dynamics of the room and figure out a strategy for occupying your son and E. If it's anything like our pre-school they'll have seen it all before and will have a range of strategies they can use to curb the behaviour. Is it possible for your son to do sessions where E isn't there to bring out his better side? Alternatively could you encourage other friendships to form with play dates?

Thanks 5ofus. I've tried encouraging different friends, as have Pre school, but unfortunately DS always gravitates back to E.
Pre school have said they are going to be firmer with the pair of them and focus them both on different tasks for part of the day.
As for doing different sessions when E isn't there, Pre school only offer morning sessions. E does every morning and DS does 3, so there is no getting away from him!
Am abit more positive after speaking with staff yesterday and am all for firm and focused, so we will see what happens fingers crossed!

i would definitely tell them what your son has said about E and ask if they can try and keep them apart where possible

we had this in reception with ds1 and he got into a lot of trouble for things another little boy was convincing him to do, ds1 is fairly easily led unfortunately. the teacher dealt with it all very well
