Is there such thing as funding for PreSchool/Nursery and Part Time Reception???

Quick quesion,
Im new here - and my little one who is 4 in July is due to be starting reception in September, Now I know all 3 and 4 year olds get 15 hours per week,

Would they still get this if he starts Reception part time for the first term??

Only reason I ask is because he is going to be one of the younger ones in his year of which would have got the additional year at preschool... So would he get the funding being a 4 year old or would I need to pay if I wanted him to go in the afternoon for example... He currently does 2 full days at preschool and loves every minute of it.

Almost 100% sure that the answer is no - I am sure I have asked my Council this before for a parent. He will be getting 15 hrs at school after all. Ring your Council's Early Yrs dept to check though.

No - once your child starts school, even part time, the funding for the free hours then goes to that school until their last term of reception.

If you keep your child out of school until they are 5, then you can still use the funding at preschool/nursery.

It annoys me because I was hoping that I could use the 15 hours for DD's breakfast and after school clubs at nursery (right next to the school, they pick up and drop off) as I work part time and need to use them half the week.

But no, the school get the money - which also pisses me off when they constantly ask for money for things, trips, juice money, etc and I just think "you're already getting the money I could use to reduce my childcare costs, use that money to pay for it!"

Why is he going part time to reception.

He should have been offered a full time place.

Anna's advice is correct. You will be getting a free place at reception at the school - for more than 15 hours per week surely? - and so the funding for nursery / preschool comes to an end.
