Baby Music Classes - worth going?

Hi just wondering whether it is worth going back to the baby music class I was at today. It seems very expensive for a lot of nursery rhymes and some other songs which I didn't know the words. The others were all singing away and I couldn't. ds really figety

I went once with my first DS. Never went back - too expensive and he just wouldn't sit still/engage. Waste of time unless you enjoy it IMHO!

I took my DS and DD to music classes. They were expensive, but the programme changed regularly and DD enjoyed it. However, after fetching DS for the upteenth time from doing something unrelated, I gave it a skip.

If your son enjoys them (and give him a chance) then continue ...

Only bother if they help pass the time and you both enjoy them.

We go to a cheap session in a local church (I am not religious, nor is the singing!), dc loves it and lots of kids there having fun. Wouldn't pay a lot of money for anything too serious or didn't enjoy tho.

Thanks for this. I might give it another try. ds was very wrigglng all over the changing mat yesterday and in desperation I sang one of the songs - and he stopped to listen, result. also friend who said she would be there is definately coming this week.
Might look for something cheaper though

Just don't let it go and do baby signing instead...

Only if your baby likes them.

My first child hated this type of thing and just wanted to explore and cause mayhem wherever he went. he certainly wasn't up for a load of structured singing and drum banging. Second child adored music classes from the word go.

If they like it and engage well, it means an hour or so passed happily for you. But if it's hard work for you, don't bother! have friends round and eat cake instead Grin

my kids loved them - so yes for us. but we went to very cheap classes - as in a pound a time or donation only. i found the ones you had to pay for were mysteriously worse. much more sanctimonious - everyone had to get their moneysworth perhaps? the best were a mellee of happy dancing children adn chatting mums and no one saysing shhhhh. my children still stalk about one of their music classes a year later, and today waved to the bloke who ran a particularly chaotic free class round the corner 18 months ago. so yes if they like it. otherwise, why bother?

We have a nice little class that's very cheap, they have lots of props and moving about. There are usually about 4 - 8 kids there. DD loved it until age 2, but doesn't want to go anymore.

At our playgroup a rep from a larger baby music group gave a taster session - I felt I was being entertained by a holiday rep and forced to have fun! Very loud. Neither I nor DD liked it, and it was very expendive.

Are there other groups in your area you could try? However, I would give it a couple of sessions and if she doesn't like it then do something else she enjoys.
