Pre-school committe/staff - who does your pre-school bank with and are they any good?

I wonder if anyone would mind telling me who your pre-school bank with and if they are any good!

I have taken over the admin role at our pre-school and currently bank with Alliance and Leicester. They are changing to Santander by the end of the year which will mean I can no longer bank any coins and we will lose the Post Office services(paying in via them and paying in coin, and getting coin from them)

It's going to be a bit of a pain to bank with A&L without the Post Office services as I will only be able to pay in cheques via a branch atm and can only pay in notes.

So I am thinking of changing out account to someone else.

Can anyone recommend a bank/building society?

We are a charity run pre-school.

We're with NatWest and they're OK. Takes an age to get the signatories sorted out, but they take cash/cheques in the branch. We also pay our staff using their Autopay system. We don't pay any bank charges either as it's a community account.

I was looking into moving us to the Co-op bank as they have a "two to sign" online system which would reduce the number of cheques we write (seeing as cheques are supposed to be old school now.

I should say "I AM looking into moving us..."

No rush though as Natwest are OK. Would also add make sure your bank is convenient for you to get to.

thanks 5ofus, when I looked into a new account, only a very quick look after realising A&L are going to be a PITA once they are Santander, I looked at the Co-op and NatWest. NatWest would be very convienent but I liked the co-op as it appears like the old A&L one.

NatWest was a bit of a PITA though as I have to go in branch, I gave them a call to see how to go about opening an account and they couldn't help over the phoneHmm seemed odd

We are also a charity run pre-school and bank with Co-op. Think it was chosen back in the day because of it's ethical banking.
Now I just do the day to day finances and never have any problem with tham.
