... why do I get told this?

I actually get called over, and the leader wispers that DD (4 next week) had a "number 2" and wiped her bottom...

thank god for that...? Do other parents get this? Because I seem to be the only mum called over every day to be told some piece of the day, when what I want to know is how is her reading and writing and why does she cry about a little boy being mean to her?

Why is she Reading and writing at only 3?!
That's great she can wipe her own bottom, that's the sort of thing that's important when she starts Sch not writing and Reading

I'd want to know, my DC have never done that without a great deal of cajoling in the weeks just before starting school!

Am surprised if they bother to tell you that every day, would have thought it would go into the Learning Story or whatever they call their regular records now.

booyhoo · 06/10/2010 17:32

that is strange. doe syour DD have problems with toilet hygiene? perhaps they have noticed this and are just letting you know how she i sgetting on? also, ask them about the other things whilst you have them there. ds's teacher disappears before you can get a chance to talk to her.

booyhoo · 06/10/2010 17:33

oh, just realsied this is preschool/nursery and not year 1.

YunoYurbubson · 06/10/2010 17:38

I wish my dd would have a poo and wipe her own bottom.

She is 4 and stanchly refuses to admit she can do it. She saves ALL her poos for home when Mummy can wipe her bottom for her.

massivemammaries · 06/10/2010 17:47

They are just pleased she can do it as not all kids do at pre-school age! would you prefer them to come and tell you that her spelling is poor?

weird attitude

OnlyWantsOne · 06/10/2010 17:49

She was clean at 2, and hygiene is not an issue, and yes she can identify letters and write her own name etc, and thats what I love to hear about, not poo!! and why wisper a number two!?

To be honest in pre-shool successful bottom wiping is probably seen as much more important than letters and numbers and your dd may be among the first to have achieved this-be proud of her.

Also, depending upon a child's digestive habits, it can be pretty important to know if they've 'been'.

At 3, my DS1 was on daily sachets of Movicol prescribed by the doctor. He's 5 now and no longer takes it, but I still try to keep track of his toilet habits to ensure that everything is still running smoothly.

For a lot of parents it's relevant information.

phipps · 09/10/2010 20:43

You could always ask why they tell you this each day.

rapidsjohnson · 09/10/2010 20:43

sorry to be a cynic but I suspect a showing-off-by-stealth in this OP Hmm

massivemammaries · 11/10/2010 19:46

yeah so did I actually

schmee · 11/10/2010 20:03

Perhaps you could suggest that they only tell you when she can curl one out in the shape of her first initial?
