Phonics - is there a website where you can hear how to pronounce the letters?

That's it. Thanks.

I don't know about that but you can get the Jolly Phonics CD from ELC. Not sure how much but it also has a book with it and the songs that go along with the phonics.

you know I found one last summer for DS2 to use..........but I'll be damned if I can remember what it was

Cbeebies Alphablocks characters are pronounced correctly.

IMoveTheStars · 14/07/2010 19:29

was just going to suggest alphablocks

Have you tried Starfall?

MathsMadMummy · 14/07/2010 19:34

Jolly Songs probably cheaper on Amazon!

DD loves it. she's been singing /a/ /a/ ants on my arm... etc

the main thing is to remember to really focus on the letter sound and not add the 'uh'

so /s/ is ssssss NOT 'suh'
/m/ is mmmmm NOT 'muh' etc

some supposedly help-your-child-with-phonics resources don't do it right (like Maisy alphabet DVD - not happy about that!)

Thanks so much for all your responses.

You could also have a listen to Focus on Phonics - Hear the sounds - many parents seem to find them useful.
