Hi everyone

I am new to the survival scene and have decided to gain knowledge to implement a degree of preparedness somewhat now that the our lives are under the threat of Epic Fury (aka Epic F**k Up)

Basically I am seeking advice on properly sealing a can (of food) for short term storage between consumption unchilled after it has been opened as I will be on my own.

I am thinking of using a silicone lid that (I hope) will keep a can air tight, but I feel the need to add something additional under the lid to ensure the seal is fully air tight.

My immediate thought is [saran] wrap but will that do it alone? I am also considering smearing a substance around the lip of the tin as well to help seal it - but what? And do I need to?

Maybe ghee, butter, waxy compound e.g. bees wax, candle wax, or some sort of food grade gel, maybe like a vaseline compound?

Or should I empty the left over content in to a new container which has a proven air tight sealed lid?

I'm all ears. Well.. eyes

As soon as the can is opened the contents can mix with air and cause the can to start to oxidise. I would decant it into a tupperware. This alao has the benefit if being very air tight which will stop it smelling so it can be stored outside or in water to keep it cool. Alrhoigh surely if you open a can you would eat the whole thing?

What sort of food and how big is the tin can?

Just curious as to why you are not eating/planning to eat the whole thing?

Do you have trusted friends/neighbours to team up with and share resources?

Do you have a cooler/coolbox?

Solar powered generator?

Definitely remove the remaining contents from the can into something else otherwise the can will begin to oxidise as a pp said.

What sort of food is it?
