It's real, there is a battery operated coffee machine.
I do wonder how many cups it makes on a full charge though, maybe just one.

Anyone got one of these, worth the money?

I don’t, but ‘power tool battery’ operated equipment is fairly common and a couple of friends highlight when they’ve found a new compatible product

Aimed at the construction / contractor market they are popular allowing the use from anywhere on construction sites, customer properties, back of the van etc and then also taken when camping etc
They then have one type of battery being used for all their tools and one charger type

Why not just get a good hand-pump espresso maker like this (nanopresso machine, the GR version has a reuseable grounds basket so no need for filter papers?)

Sounds like a good idea but I'll stick to my cafetière/french press or my pour over flask for now - it's relatively easy to boil water for those.

If there is a major disaster, I'll probably need caffine in large doses anyway, and for sharing with lots of people, rather than fancy espresso based drinks.

And there is far less chance of electronics getting damaged in bad weather, like we saw in Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the past few weeks.

I have a barbeque and a camping kettle. With luck that will be ok for boiling water.

A BBQ could heat a camping kettle, but isn’t the most efficient route.
If it’s a coal BBQ then you can stack the coal in an area below the kettle, but BBQs tend to be designed around making a wide area and the grill would be higher and further from the heat than a camping kettle is designed for

The generic camping hot plate would be a more efficient way to heat a camping kettle
