What would you prep if you lived near a grumbling volcano?

Following the earthquakes around Campi Flegrei a few weeks ago which seems to have settled now. If I lived near Naples region I'd be twitchy.

What would you prep?

I think during times when its grumbling I'd

Always have 3/4 tank of fuel. Possibly a full gerrymandering can too.
Well studied route to drive directly away from the volcanoes and coast.
Enough water for two days for entire household in my car.
A pot, matches, Enough tinned, dried goods to make two days worth of food on the road
Sleeping bags in known location for entire household.
One draw per person of a week's clothes all together in one draw to empty out in a hurry.
Torches, power banks etc in a grab bag.
Everyone's most treasured possessions in a bag each to go.
Roof box ready on the car

In reality I'd want to pack more but it would all need to fit in my car.

I always wonder this when storms predict to hit land in the Americas. Part of you has to prepare that you might have no house to return too.

We have two cars. I'd take both of them.

I do realise I never have to deal with this, just musing. Maybe Italian residents didn't think too much about the preparations to evacute being mentioned.

You need to prepare for a possible pyroclastic flow.

How will you breathe? Are you on edge of a sea or lake and will you have a rowing boat handy like Pliny did in AD 79?

Motor bikes so you wouldn't get stuck in the gridlock of the exodus.

I think I'd be long gone before a pyroclastic flow. Didn't the people of Pompey stay for 24 hours before the column calapsed? It's 1000 degrees c and moves at 300 mph give or take so I'd either be there and dead or hopefully 100+ miles away.

I wouldn't stay to watch a big volcano. Would be fascinating.

If there was any kind of eruption or new bulge I'd be gone.

Yes motor bike would be a good ideal esp in Italy. Too many kids really but my 19year old could take a sibling. Or maybe we could pull of a Thailand style 6 on a bike? Would have to leave the tinned lentils behind...

Relocation to somewhere else.

Honestly in Naples I think a speed boat would be your best bet, and making North along the Italian coast so that at such time you're out of fuel you can make for land and continue heading into the continent, rather than being stuck in southern Italy or one of the islands.

Speed boat is an excellent idea. I will add the passport to the list.
