USB blanket

I'm looking for a usb powered electric blanket or throw to use if heating fails. I can only see gilets etc (no good as it is for kids). I'd like one that is a real brand not a dodgy import (as it is for kids, don't want any safety risk). Can be smallish. Any tips?

Strongly recommend a good old fashioned hot water bottle. Also strongly recommend a wool filled duvet -Baavet factory seconds are what we use.

Are these things you can charge from a USB port or provide heat from a USB port?

The max a USB post can provide is 0.5 Amps at 5 volts, so 2.5 Watts.

You are not going to stay warm very long with that sort of power.

How about a microwaveable pet pad? They stay warm for hours, especially if wrapped up in a duvet. Heat one up on spec if a power cut is threatened.

USB isn't strong enough to power much, I have heat pads which are a4 size and can be shoved down your jumper. On amazon for around £10.

I second the recommendation to go for a hot water bottle and a good duvet. I have one of the long hot water bottles, it's about 3ft long, so I use it to pre-warm my bed before I get in, then lay it alongside my back when I'm in bed. I also use a mini hot water bottle on my lap during the daytime, and a normal sized one to warm my feet in bed.

It costs the price of boiling a kettle - and you could even boil a few kettlefulls and put hot water into a thermos ahead of time if you wanted to prepare.
