What are you doing to prep for this storm then?

I'm not fussed about it tbh, reckon we'll be fine and it's just the media overreacting. I live with my mum though who's in a right flap and running around filling all the bowls we can find (expecting a power cut). Apart from charging devices and having candles and matches handy what else is there to do? You guys making plans at all?

@Wobblywibblywoo Wind up radio? obviously not the same as the internet but when our power was out yesterday and overnight that kept us company!

Second battery/solar/windup radios.

Also cultivate self confidence in your own abilities. Take deep breaths. Think about what you need to do.

Have books for reference.

Keep some 20pence pieces and know where your phone box is.

Know which neighbours you can ask for help. Build relationships by helping your neighbours too.

Sheltered in place. We did not need flasks but other parts of our area lost power for several hours so we were right to prep, lucky not to need it.

Oh and watch out for Franklin.

I'm eating my words. We had a powercut for more than 24 hours. It was bloody cold!! Luckily we'd filled the bath and could use it to flush the loo. My laptop ran out of battery pretty quickly and my phone got dangerously low. I had to resort to reading books!!

I did loads of washing but something had got trapped in teh washing machine pump and I need to find a way of getting it out. before the next load.

a local area had power loss but we escaped. vindicated on storing water though.
