Prepping with baby - what else to add?

Hi all, these threads have been really useful to me. Currently prepping with a 4 month old, it will be a hard winter with 2nd wave/Brexit/being on maternity pay. Am aiming to prep for up til DD is 12 months old. So far I have, for me and DH:
-cupboard staples (pasta, rice, lentils, tins, flour, tea etc)
-lots of frozen meat, fish and veg
-jars of home made preserved fruit
-shower stuff, toothpaste, loo roll, medicine
-candles, batteries, torches

For baby:
-a month's worth of formula, some purées
-cot (converts to toddler bed) to replace Next to Me crib
-high chair, bibs, bowls and spoons
-clothes, buying some more sleep bags
-musical toys as she loves them
-tooth brush and toothpaste, nappy rash cream, Sudocrem, baby shampoo
-expanding my stash of reusable nappies and wipes

Anything else? Anything essential/useful/nice-to-have that I've missed?

Baby rice. Is that still a thing?
Baby snacks
Thermometer

Personally I’d buy the baby less weaning book. The baby doesn’t need any special food/ purées and just eats the same as you. As a mum of five I swear buy it. This means if we do have supply issues you aren’t trying to find “baby food”.

Personally I’d get more formula. You’ll use it anyway. Next size up clothes and nappies. Think what season will be for each size.

Child related medicines: calpol, baby vicks, saline drops.

Clothes airer. We use cloth nappies and it's a different ball game in winter. Something you can move while it's loaded is good.

We always have calpol, gripe water, teething gel, teething rings to be frozen, lolly moulds to make juice lollies for teething (we had a rough time with some back teeth). Ice packs for bumps and high temps. Calmine lotion in case of chicken pox.

Some good suggestions, will need to get teething gel and baby rice and a few other bits and bobs.
I'll see about the Baby Led Weaning book. My plan was to start with baby rice/porridge and purées, then move on to finger foods.
What about entertainment/toys? Things like jumperoo, door bouncers etc? Are they any good or a waste of money?

Prepping aside, you can guarantee you'll need the calpol/teething gel/vapour rub at 10pm on a Sunday and everywhere is closed. My Mam always told me to have one in the house and I think it's good advice. Homebargains do good kids meds for much cheaper than the brands and it's just the same.

I loved the jumperoo for mine. Kids are happy with pots and pans with a spoon for banging at that age though so unless budget and space allow I wouldn't buy ahead there.

Mine have allergies so piriton would be a must for me and a new baby, and tons of non-dairy products

Ladybookreader · 05/10/2020 00:15

As mentioned before baby meds plus deloralites in case of diarrhea, extra nappys in sizes above, hand blender much easier to blend main family meal for babe just remember low sodium stock, arnica cream for bruises/bumps and I'd freeze a few easy meals in case you both get sick

We got a little plastic slide for DD for her first birthday which she used for years. Of course at one you are putting them on the slide and holding them but before long they will be doing it themselves. We used ours indoors. The little ones fold.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2020 08:47

Bath books and cloth books for my destructive child. Board books did not survive.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2020 08:48

Baby suncream

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2020 08:49

And sunhats, and wellies from about size 4 reins for when they are walking,

bookgirl1982 · 05/10/2020 09:00

Whichever washing liquid and stain remover you use. Bibs, floor mats and flannels for hands/face once weaning.

Next sizes of clothes if you can get the seasons right.

DennisTMenace · 05/10/2020 15:33

Don't pay full price for a jumperoo, there are usually loads on facebook marketplace or ebay. They are a lot new for a few months use. My first loved it and second hated it. Breadsticks are good long life weaning food. Don't go overboard on baby food as you have no idea what they will like. Ad others have said, aim towards same as you with low salt and sugar.

peboh · 05/10/2020 15:36

All I will say is please don't stock up on toilet roll.

SpeckledyHen · 05/10/2020 15:43

Paracetamol
Soap
Washing powder
