Lots of talk on other threads about food security/retailer/manuf stocks...

I was interested to learn today that despite the lockdown in India, farmers are going to be allowed to harvest 15-20 April (its the wheat crop), & I am also aware (from my job) that several food processors have been granted exemptions

Would be interested to understand what others are aware of in UK/in other parts of the world re what is being done to maintain food industry

I occasionally listen to Farming Today. We don't have anything like food security here. Which is one of the reasons I'm a prepper and know how to preserve fresh food where I can.

There was a sad story on bbc website this morning about farmers pouring milk down drains.

I'm focusing on what I can do myself. Growing veg, preserving grown and bought gluts, trying to find local, independant producers for dairy, meat, flour etc. Still mulling over chickens or ducks for eggs. Last year we made a real effort to eat bioregionally - so eating things that could be grown here (even if we didn't), eg no tropical fruits, cutting back on rice. It was interesting to dabble in just to bring home to us how precarious our food supplies are.

Much to think about.
