My bag is geared towards needing to evacuate my house quickly due to fire or local gas leak etc. So I’m assuming I’ll either be in a rest centre, Insurance-provided hotel, or a friend/family member’s house.
I’ve got spare clothes (big old baggy t-shirt, leggings, knickers, socks, and a cheaply Primark £4 bra so the poor firemen don’t have to deal with me swinging free!); toiletries, sudoku, spare chargers, power bank, torch, first aid kit. Then I’ve got printouts of house insurance and passports, a USB with scans of all other important documents, some cash; and then I’ve got a blanket, multi tool and towel as well.
I’ve got a bit carried away and keep putting in stuff that’s probably not strictly necessary (tennis ball
) so it’s bulging at the seams a bit. I need to strip it back I think so it’s easier to find stuff - for example at the moment I’ve got hand warmers, gloves, beanie etc PLUS a baseball cap, sunglasses and suncream - I could probably be a bit more sensible there!
One thing I go back and forth on is what food and drink to put in there. I’ve only got a cereal bar and a small bottle of water, then a lifestraw and some chlorine tablets. I’ve got my “3 days good & water”; but I keep it with the rest of my food to rotate stock. I would hope to be able to grab it if it were that kind of scenario, but I see it as less likely.
