Hi, I am new to prepping but like a lot of people, with Brexit looming I feel it is only sensible to have a small stash in case we have issues with supplies.
Please could you kind folk have a look at my list and add any ideas or suggestions? I realise it is basic. I'm just looking for glaring gaps. Thank you!

I know your kids are not pulse fans. Any chance of finding say a yummy Bolognese or lasagne recipe that suits with pulses. Trial different things now gently to see what works. Pulses are cheap (relatively) and store well.
For example, If you pad out a mince recipe with pulses the meat goes further.

Red lentils are great in stew or curry as they just disolve into it so you can't really see them but they thicken the liquid & add protein & 1 of your 5 a day.

Kidney beans, chickpeas etc are good mashed up & made into burgers. Bit of seasoning like stock cube or garlic & herbs fried lightly in a pan.

Someone suggested to me to blend a tin of baked beans until smooth & use it to make a pasta sauce. Haven't tried it yet but will give it a go.

Butter beans are really nice in curry.

Refried beans are nice in totilla wraps.

Pease pudding (yellow split peas blended to a thick paste & comes in a tin) is good for thickening stews as well. Actually my dd loves it heated up & served with potatoes & veg.

Another good bulker is grated carrot which just disappears into a bolognese or chilli. Carrots don't home freeze particularly well IMO but if you grate it and freeze it grated in cubes then you can just chuck a cube in.

Some really good ideas here, thanks so much. Would never have thought of half of them.

we switched from meat bolognaise to lentil bolognaise by gradually increasing the amount of lentils and decreasing the amount of meat. The children were quite young though. we do not have meat in it at all now and I prefer it.

ds may be resistent to such things now.

What about hot dogs? You can get them in jars.

Or tuna for a tuna pasta bake.

Part baked bread lasts a while.

Ds2 loves the aunt Bessie’s frozen mash. He also loves barbecue baked beans..

You could freeze grated cheese.

I chop lemons and limes and freeze them for drinks.

Frozen defrosted berries are nice on porridge with honey.
