Vet supplies?

I have built up a stock of the stuff my fussy cats will eat (so they'll be ok, even if I'm living off tinned tomatoes and pasta!) but just been thinking about vaccinations.

Youngest cat is due her booster vaccination mid-May. Does anyone know where cat vaccination supplies come from, are they produced in the UK? I've tried googling but its not clear. My cats dont go out of the garden so low risk but they will be having a short cattery stay late May and need their boosters up to date.

I'd suggest calling your vets and asking them, as they'll know which brand (?) of vaccines they use, and whether they're relient on the single brand, or will have others they can switch to in a pinch.

I was actually pretty happy when Pets At Home said they were taking steps to stockpile. Poor Evil Kitty won't take kindly to us telling that she can't have her favourite senior tuna dry food, because politics... I've bought enough wet food to last a month at the moment, and dry food to last a few months, I think. Not sure what else I need to consider. Another pack of flea medicine, I guess? And more cat litter, just in case...

(Kitty will be going to the vets soon, because she's showing signs of arthritis. I hope if she needs a course of medications, it'll be more easy to stockpile than the human prescriptions!)

Yes, I will phone the vets first thing and check. I've just had a look at their website and they do have an updated article re the impact on pet passports so they must be doing some planning.

If Evil Kitty is anything like my two, you would be getting the death stare if you dare offend her palate by presenting a substitute food!

In case anyone has similar query re pet meds, I didn't get the any real confirmation from the practice manager, just a vague 'no-one really knows yet but if there are problems clients will be contacted directly'. She did say that vaccines are UK produced, so hopefully that means standard boosters wont be an issue.

That's very helpful. I have plenty of food for my overlord but was actually thinking about vacs.

Not really a prepper thing I don't think (but you mentioned pet supplies), but good for general info...one of my cats generally gets really ill around spring (we think she eats something in the garden yet Un-identified that is blooming).

Anyway, first time she was ill we nearly lost her, she would throw up constantly and didn't eat anything for 5 days which left her very weak. Vets couldn't figure it out, even after lots of expensive investigations. I decided we should bring her home, because her dying at home sat better with me, she didn't die because we found out about rehydration support...and now every time she gets ill, they pull her straight back out if it. We got them from the vets originally but have since bought some online by royal canin, so we always have them in. Suitable for cats and dogs, they are great for helping pets that are not eating (not to replace the vet of course, but may be a helping hand).
