In worst case with Brexit will post still get through?

I started a prep box (or 3) a while back, because of Brexit but also because what happened following 'the beast from the east'. Not going as extream as others on here, but would be able to survive 2-3 weeks.

What I'm wondering is whether post would make it through? I've got lots of close relatives who live abroad and have the financial means to send us stuff if needed. One in a country where could buy meds also.

If it's airmail surely would be OK? I'm also not talking about EU countries, so out of the EU.

There are customs charges now on goodscoming into UK from outside the EU. I have US family who send stuff for Christmas. I'm too polite to tell them that I am often charged to get stuff.

I've lost track of where things have got up to with the matter of aviation in the event of a No Deal. At one point there was talk of planes being able to neither take off nor land. Hopefully someone else will be able to fill us in.

Either way, I wouldn't rely on it. Not only would the postage charges be punitive for anything bulky or heavy, we don't know if it would get through reliably or how long it would take.

I would stock up a bit more using UK supplies before turning to relatives outside of the UK.

I took 5 weeks for a birthday card to arrive from America last year: I wouldn’t want to rely on that sort of speed if I needed anything.

The risk if there is no deal is if customs staff get diverted to other stuff, and if airmail gets reappropriated for essential supplies/meds etc. Both of which are valid possibilities. There is also the issue to consider that there may be disruption to flights due problems with airspace, and also that some things by airmail are currently sent via an EU country.

I wouldn’t rely on it for anything other than non-essential treats.
